NOGAMU is committed to building and enhancing capacity at various levels within the organic sector (Production, Export and Processing). NOGAMU offers a range of services in the areas of training research and extension, such services include;

  • Assessing training and research needs
  • Developing training materials
  • Organizing training work shops
  • Providing advisory and technical back stopping of members in the field
  • Organizing experience sharing visits 

NOGAMU conducts training of trainers (TOT) seminars nationally, in order to build a pool of trainers.

NOGAMU also organizes direct training of groups of farmers that have been organized for marketing through collaboration with its grass root partner organizations spread throughout the country

Areas of training include;

  • Organic production of various crops ( Agronomy)
  • Management of pests and diseases in organic production
  • Soil fertility management in organic systems
  • Soil and water management
  • Post harvest handling
  • Weed management in organic Agriculture
  • Processing of organic products
  • Different standards (organic , Fair trade, Utz )
  • Internal control system
  • Internal quality management
  • Marketing of organic products (local/export)

Specialized training can also be conducted on request, addressing the specific needs of staff in the organic export companies as well as NGOS especially in the area of Quality Assurance and building competitiveness of organic products in the market place. The training is offered to members at subsidized rates but can also be offered to the general public at affordable fees.

NOGAMU also collaborates with other training institutions to provide Human Resource Development in particular the Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), which has initiated degree and certificate courses in organic agriculture.
